Editor assistants, AI editors and chat plans that include a coding tool, with what each one counts: credits, a usage budget or a time window. Every price and limit here shows its source and the date we checked it.
There is no fixed message count. A long session can use up the five-hour window, then you wait for it to reset; the weekly limit caps heavy use across the week. Claude Code draws from the same allowance.
The page shows "From $100" for the 5x option and did not show the 20x price in the text we read. Meant for people who run Claude Code for hours a day; a casual user will not notice the difference from Pro.
The included usage is a budget, not a message count: expensive models spend it faster. With on-demand usage switched on, a heavy month costs more than $20.
For developers who keep agents running most of the day. If your on-demand bill on Pro stays under $180 a month, Ultra costs more than what you already pay.
Autocomplete never runs out; chat and agent requests spend credits, and stronger models spend more per request. The cheapest paid coding plan in this guide.
The lowest-priced full assistant here, and the $15 of API credits nearly equals the subscription if you also build with the API. "More messages" has no published number.
Every price and limit here shows its source and the date we checked it. No affiliate links: the order comes from the table, not from who pays.
Coding plans do not share a unit. GitHub Copilot counts AI credits per month and never limits plain completions. Cursor gives an amount of included usage that expensive models spend faster, then bills on demand. Claude plans put the coding tool on the same five-hour window and weekly limit as chat.
That is why two $20 plans can feel very different in the third week of the month. Before comparing prices, decide which unit you can live with: a number you can watch, a budget that can overflow into extra charges, or a window that makes you wait.
Start low, move up when you hit the limit
The cheapest paid step in this guide is Copilot Pro at $10. The $20 step has three different tools. The $39 to $60 steps exist for people who exhaust the $20 plan every month, and the $100 to $200 steps for people who keep agents running most of the working day.
Moving up one step at a time costs less than guessing high: you only pay for the bigger plan once the smaller one has actually stopped you.
Watch for double coverage
Claude Pro and Le Chat Pro both include a coding agent. If you pay for one of them and for a coding plan, two subscriptions cover the same job. The bundle calculator shows that overlap and what dropping one would cut.
Copilot Pro at $10 a month, with unlimited completions and 1,500 AI credits a month, read on the official GitHub docs.
Cursor or GitHub Copilot?
Copilot Pro costs half as much and states a credit number. Cursor Pro is a separate editor built around agents, with on-demand billing after the included usage. The side-by-side page lists the wording of both sources.
Does Claude Pro include Claude Code?
Yes, the official pricing page lists Claude Code in the Pro plan. It draws from the same usage allowance as chat.
Which plans bill extra when I go over?
Cursor states that on-demand usage continues after the included amount is consumed and is billed in arrears. The other plans in this guide describe a limit rather than an overage charge.
Are students charged?
Verified students get GitHub Copilot Student free, and Mistral states a student price of $5.99 a month for Le Chat Pro. See the students page for the full list.
